Brian Brown Heading to Sprint Car World Championship Following Rare ASCS Start

Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (May 28, 2019) – Rain has hampered Brian Brown throughout the month of May. The team was able to compete once last weekend after two straight nights of rainouts at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and they will head east to tackle one of the biggest-paying winged sprint car races – the $100,000-to-win Sprint Car World Championship – this weekend in Ohio.
May 26 – Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. – Heat race: 3 (4); Feature: 13 (13).
“We tried two nights at Knoxville,” Brown said. “On Saturday we got 99 percent of the qualifying done and we had quick time, which is good. We keep tinkering and getting our car better and better.
“We knew going to Lake Ozark on Sunday that since we missed Night 1 the best we could start was ninth in the A Main. We were ok, but we weren’t great. It shows how great the ASCS National Tour is. If you’re not on your game you can have a decent run, but not a great one. We were up to seventh at one time and back to 16th at one time. I had a problem with my throttle spring from about halfway on. I had to run it like a toggle switch. I felt like we had a top-10 car, but we finished 13th.”
Preparation is Key
“Even though we haven’t been racing, Chad, Nate and my dad have still been busting their butts to be prepared,” Brown said. “You can build more wings, decal more wings and there are a lot of things that you can do. You get racing throughout the summer and you have to stay late nights in the shop so we have been able to work ahead to help ourselves down the road.”
UP NEXT – Thursday through Saturday at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio
“Cody (Sommer) has done a phenomenal job of not just promoting this event, but three or four others throughout the country,” Brown said. “It’s awesome to be able to race for that kind of money. Now it’s the third-highest paying race in the country. We had some luck there last year where we ran good on our qualifying night and got locked in, but we had some bad luck and cut a tire on Saturday when we were racing for $100,000 to win. We’re looking forward to going and hopefully having a good run. There’s a lot of cars that can win that race. We’ll have to be on our ‘A’ game and be on it all weekend long.”
