Dylan Thornton scores podium finish in Summer Smackdown at Mason City

Dylan Thornton returned to the driver’s seat of the Kay Motorsports No. 38T Late Model over the weekend for a pair of Malvern Bank Series events.

With 26 Malvern Bank East & West Series competitors making up the field on Friday at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, IA) for the co-sanctioned opener, Thornton backed up a heat race win with a 14th-to-6th showing in the 25-lap feature.

For the Summer Smackdown on Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, IA), Dylan went fifth in his heat before advancing forward four positions in the main event to finish third. He chased C.J. Horn and Bill Leighton Jr. to the checkers in the $4,000-to-win weekend finale.
