Dylan Thornton takes night three of Winter Nationals at Cocopah
Hopping behind the wheel of the Leland Hibdon-owned PEL1 A Stock Car to kick off his 2024 season, Dylan Thornton trekked to Cocopah Speedway (Somerton, Ariz.) on Wednesday for the Playa Azul Seypet Resorts IMCATV Winter Nationals opener.
After racing forward in his heat to finish third, Thornton climbed into the top-10 from the seventh row in the feature before retiring on lap 16.
On Thursday, Dylan’s ninth-to-fourth run in his heat positioned him on the sixth row for the A-Main. Losing ground late after challenging for the Top-5, Thornton settled with a 10th-place finish.
Parking in victory lane on Friday evening, Thornton followed up a heat race win with a fifth-to-first showing in the 25-lap feature. He notched his first victory of the 2024 campaign ahead of Bo Partain, Shelby Williams, Zane DeVelbiss, and Cole Czarneski.
The race weekend drew to a close on Saturday with a fourth-place showing in the main event, placing him eighth overall in Stock Car points.
Thornton will return to action at Cocopah Speedway on Wednesday for the final four nights of the IMCATV Winter Nationals.
