Kaleb Johnson Looks Forward to Returning to the Track This Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Aug. 20, 2019) – Kaleb Johnson is aiming to return to action this Saturday after unexpected mechanical woes sidelined him last weekend.
After experiencing some problems with both his 305ci and 360ci engines, Johnson had expected to have those concerns resolved and he planned to compete in both sprint car classes at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., last Saturday. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
“Our 305 didn’t get sealed in time for us to race it,” he said. “That was kind of a bummer, but that stuff happens. Then we found out that our 360 motor was hurt a little more than we thought, so that wasn’t ready either. We just didn’t have anything to race.”
Johnson expects to have his 305 running this week and is excited about returning to Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., this Saturday, when he plans to get some laps in prior to the IMCA Sprint Car RaceSaver Nationals.
“We haven’t raced there that much this year,” he said. “I think we’ve been there three times and the last time was before Memorial Day. We don’t have a whole lot of notes to go on for Eagle this year since we haven’t raced there as much as in the past. We were there about every other week last year.
“But I’m excited to return there this week since we’re planning to try some things we haven’t tried there before. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, we’ll try something else next week. But the main reason for going there this week is to try some things we haven’t tried before and see if we can find a little extra speed.”
Johnson is hoping that this weekend could be the turning point to what’s been somewhat of a frustrating year due to mechanical ills.
“We haven’t had the greatest year due to a number of mechanical issues,” he said. “But we’re still working hard and we feel there’s time to turn it around and finish strong.”
