TMAC Tuesday- 18th at Jackson Nationals Has McCarl Hungry For Trio of Races Ahead
PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting together a great week at the Jackson Nationals in Jackson, MN, the finale was spoiled late in the Saturday feature as McCarl faded to 18th as he battled a right-rear flat. Disappointed with the end result, TMAC is primed for three races on tap this week.
“We had a nice week going, and we were on our way to Top-10 during Saturday’s finale, we just had some bad luck late in the race with a right rear tire,” McCarl said. “The Destiny Motorsports car as been good as of late, and were looking forward to a busy week.”
Timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.com backed No. 4 in sixth quickest in time trials during Thursday night’s opener, McCarl would proceed to finish second in his heat race and then fourth in the Dash.
Looking to make good points to open the three-day event up, McCarl would keep his machine well inside the Top-10 for the duration of the race. When the checkered flag did fall, TMAC closed the night out with a 10th place finish.
Friday night’s second preliminary night saw McCarl get timed in 12th quickest in time trials before picking up a fourth place finish in heat race competition.
Lining up 13th in the feature event, passing would prove to be at a premium on this night. Able to get a spot early, McCarl would add to his points total as his 12th place finish capped with his 10th place finish from Thursday put him 10th overall heading into Saturday’s finale.
Picking up a second place finish in his Saturday night heat race, the Altoona, IA resident would advance into the 35-lap feature event where he rolled off the starting grid from the 10th position.
On a very slick surface, McCarl would work his way up into the eighth position as the race moved towards the halfway point. With the abrasive surface getting worse as the race moved on, McCarl would start to battle a right rear tire losing air pressure.
Doing all he could to hang on, McCarl would slip back to 18th when the race came to a close.
“It was definitely a disappointing end to a decent week,” McCarl said. “I think we were a Top-10 car for sure, but we had a tire issue. Thanks to everyone for their help, and support.”
