McCarl 15th with the Outlaws During Battle at the Lake
PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way to Eldon, MO to battle with the World of Outalws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Lake Ozark Speedway, Terry McCarl and Destiny Motorsports would tally a 15th place finish.
“Friday night wasn’t too bad of a night,” McCarl said. “We went out early in time trials, and it got faster after we time in so that put us in a little hole. We heat raced well and that’s huge with the Outlaws, and in the feature we went a little too far on our adjustments and ended up going down at the wrong time.”
Timing in 18th quickest in qualifying time trials, TMAC got his elbows up in heat race action aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.com machine. Lining up fifth, a spirited battle with Jason Sides would see the Altoona, IA driver come home with a third place finish.
By way of his heat race performance, McCarl would move into the feature event where he would roll off of the starting grid from the 10th position. Following some track prep prior to the feature, the surface would be very racy, but McCarl would admit that they went a little too far on their pre race changes to their car.
As his machine got too free as the race went on, race leader, Brad Sweet would get around him with 10-to go just before the red flag flew putting McCarl officially a lap down.
Though he couldn’t really gain any spots in the final 10 laps being a lap down, TMAC was able to get his wing back during the final stretch and show some speed as he got past a couple of lead lap cars. Though it was for not, McCarl would take the checkered flag with a 15th place finish.
“Overall it was a fun weekend of racing and hanging out at Fat Polly’s Pub Thursday night at the World of Outlaws Fan Fest,” McCarl added. “It was a fun track, and a really neat atmosphere.”
