PETERSEN MEDIA: Though the elements tried to wash the entire weekend of racing out, both Tulare Thunderbowl and World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series officials worked hard to get Saturday’s program in as Terry McCarl and Destiny Motorsports picked up a 14th place finish.
“It was a decent night for the Destiny Motorsports team,” Terry McCarl said. “Qualifying was really tight, and we were less than 1 tenth off of being fourth quick, and with this format time trials really can dictate your night. With everyone that close, it just makes your job that much more difficult."
Ending up 16th on the speed chart aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.Com backed No. 4 machine, the Iowa native would take care of business in his heat race as a fourth place finish would propel him directly into the feature event.
Following a rain shower prior to his heat, the track conditions would change immensely and the slick surface early would turn fast and hooked up for TMac’s heat and the rest of the night.
Once the feature event came around, McCarl would take the green flag from the 16th starting position aboard his Bosma Poultry/STC/T.W. Vance Trucking machine as he would go to work on what he calls one of his favorite tracks.
While passing would prove to be tough on this night, McCarl would work hard as he searched around the 1/3 mile oval. Able to pick up a couple of positions in what was a fast paced feature event, he would accept the checkered flag with a 14th place finish.
“It was a great job by the Outlaws and the track to get it in with all the rain leading up to Saturday, and even with the shower rolling in during heat races,” McCarl added. “Big thanks to Craig Smith, Dillon Paddock, the Offill Family/Country Builders Construction for helping me keep the Destiny Motorsports/TheSnowPlow.Com car going all night and again this upcoming weekend in Chico, CA and Stockton, CA.
