Driver Information

At the early age of 7, Longview, TX native, Cody Freeman was instantly bitten with the racing bug after attending a World of Outlaws event with his father. After 2 years of studying, in 2011, Cody got behind the wheel of a dirt oval flat kart leading him down the competitive path of motorsports. He found victory lane the first time in only his second race to compete. Cody thrived not only behind the wheel he was highly motivated in learning the mechanics to make his car perform the best on the track. At the age of 9 he was tuning and making adjustments to his own kart and engine packages. Never backing down to a challenge, Cody still maintains his car and performs most of the maintenance required himself.

In 2013 when Cody was only 11 years old, he moved one step closer to reaching his dream of becoming a professional sprint car driver when he moved out of the karting world and transitioned into a 600cc restricted micro sprint. Without any practice in a micro sprint, his first time to drive the car was under race conditions where he recorded a Top 10 finish. Cody quickly gained the respect and trust of many peers by being the type of driver that will push you to the edge and race you extremely hard but yet extremely clean. Cody’s driving style and attitude has gained him a considerable amount of respect within the pits and garnered the trust of many teams. Due to his ambitious driving style, work put in both on and off the track, Cody’s efforts were rewarded by earning him the 2013 National Open Wheel Series 600cc Restricted division, Rookie of the Year honors.

In 2014 Cody recorded 30 starts with 12 top 3’s and 14 top 5 finishes while traveling throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Cody’s effort paid off in 2015 when he was awarded the opportunity to drive an asphalt super truck for Nesbitt Racing Enterprises. Making his first career start in the Southeast Super Truck Series at the famed Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina, Cody became the youngest driver to ever start in the series recording a 15th place finish. In his second start, just 4 months later Cody became the youngest driver to record a Top 10 finish in the S.E.S.T. Series at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC. The year ended great for Cody in microsprints as well; he had 22 starts, found Victory Lane 3 times, 9-Top 3’s, 13-Top 5’s and made his first starts in the unrestricted A-Class and Outlaw Class divisions. Cody’s determination on dirt lead him to capture the Texas Open Wheel Racing Series- Restricted Points Championship.

In part to the economic downturn of the oil and gas industry, which produced a majority of Cody’s financial sponsors and supporters, Cody only participated in 23 events in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He drove his family owned microsprint with the help of his family and friends. Throughout this challenging time Cody has maintained his positive attitude and goes full throttle every time he is on the track. With determination and internal drive Cody is honored to have the opportunity to return back in 2019; and is hopeful to record more races while moving into a 305 Sprint Car as well.
