Brandon Hahn Sidelined While Leading B Main at Texas Motor Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 24, 2013) – Brandon Hahn is grateful to be walking around without a severe limp after a mechanical failure sidelined him Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.

After advancing from seventh to fifth place during his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race at the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship, Hahn started a B Main on the outside of the front row.

“I threw a slider and never seen anyone again,” he said. “About the second lap in going into (turn) three the car just nosed down and lost power. Out of turn four it started coming apart and I shut it down.”

After leading the opening lap of the 12-lap consolation race, which transferred the top three to the feature, Hahn’s car stopped on the frontstretch after the issue.

“The u-joint just disintegrated on me,” he said. “It messed a lot of stuff up. It got the torque tube, the ball and the housing, the power steering pump, fuel pump, drive line. It got the motor plate.

“It got me a little bit on the left ankle, but nothing too bad.”

Hahn was credited with a 13th-place result in the B Main.

He is set to tackle Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., on Friday and Saturday for the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“It’s one of the nicer facilities in the country,” he said. “Our car rolls pretty good there so it’s always good to go to a race track you’re familiar with.”
