Ketterman’s Bad 8 “End of an Era”
Delmar, DE -
In 2009, Jerry Ketterman approached Track Owner, Charles Cathell, about hosting an event featuring the baddest door cars and dragsters in the Mid-Atlantic region. Over the winter months, Ketterman began to call on friends and business owners to collect sponsorship money to offer racers bonus money for qualifying and additional monies on top of the Dragway’s bracket purse.
Over the next 14 years, Ketterman built up an event many racers looked forward to competing with some of the baddest cars on the East Coast. Unfortunately, good things must come to an end. Ketterman’s old employer was recently bought out by a larger corporation changing Jerry’s work schedule tremendously. A few weeks ago he met with Track Promoters, Mark and Denise Cathell to notify them that he would be unable to host the event due to time restraints with his job. The Cathell’s were disappointed, but understood Ketterman’s situation and thanked him for the many years of dedication he had given the event. Jerry made the statement, “I accomplished more than I ever thought possible and couldn’t thank all the sponsors and racers enough for their support over the past 14 years.”
SDM Promotions and the Cathell family would like to thank Jerry Ketterman for all his hard work and the dedication he gave to this event. Jerry has elected to stay on as a Tech Advisor with the track and in 2024 working his 51st year with the Cathell family.
Look for information on a replacement event coming in the next few days.
