MIKE JONES TAKES TOP ET FRIDAY AT U.S. 13

By Charlie Brown, DELMAR, DE – It was an all-dragster final Friday night in Top ET at the U.S. 13 Dragway when two of Salisbury, Md.’s best went head to head. At the finish line it was Mike Jones taking the win over Frank Lecates. Veteran Ronnie Bishop kept the “Salisbury sweep� going driving his ‘55 Chevy to the win in Mod ET and Travis Irving of Selbyville, Del. rode the win in Pro Bike. Other winners on the night included: Bobby Ballard in the List; Sara Davis in Hot Rod; Josh Davis in Street; Keith Riddle in Jr. Dragster 1 and Hope Clarke in Jr. Dragster 2.

It was Cash Night for the List with $2500 going to the winner thanks to L&D Performance and North Star Motorsports. Bobby Ballard in his ‘72 Nova collected the hefty paycheck with a hole shot start over Tom Lynch in his ‘92 Mustang.

Mike Jones advanced to the Top ET final with a win over Tommy Ketterman while Lecates had the bye. The pair were close at the start but it was Jones driving by for the win with a 7.530/178.81 on a 7.52 dial-in. Lecates ran an 8.169/162.80 on an 8.14 dial.

It was Ronnie Bishop in his ‘55 Chevy going up against Ernie Fisher in his ‘66 Chevelle in the Mod ET final. Bishop had a major advantage at the start and drove to the win with a 12.212/110.09 on a 12.14 dial. Fisher had a 9.538/136.21 on a 9.50 dial. Semi-finalist was Tim Foskey, Jr. who lost to Bishop while Fisher had the bye.

Travis Irving rode into the Pro Bike final on his Kawasaki taking on Brian Wongus on his Suzuki. Irving took the double breakout win with a 9.025/147.85 on a 9.05 dial while Wongus was out by more running a 10.417/114.44 on a 10.50 dial. Semi-finalist was James Farmer who lost to Irving while Wongus had the bye.

Sara Davis had an easy go of it in the Hot Rod final when Lorenzo Demard left before the tree was activated and fouled. Davis made a full pass for the win with a 12.174/109.94 on a 12.20 dial.

Defending champion, Josh Davis of Seaford drove his ‘77 Pacer to the win in Street. Davis faced Jay Parrott in the final. Parrott had the better start but broke out with a 14.146/92.52 on a 14.20 dial and Davis took the win running a 12.352/101.13 on a 12.30 dial.

In Jr. Dragster 1 action Keith Riddle of Millsboro, Del. picked up another win over Carter Foskey. Foskey broke out running a 9.068/70.15 on a 9.09 dial while Riddle ran a solid 7.977/79.90 on a 7.96. In Jr. 2 it was Hope Clarke paired against defending champion Jacob Bowie. Clarke had the better reaction and won with an 8.827/73.42 on an 8.77 dial. Bowie’s final run was a 7.973/81.15 on a 7.93 dial.download_20160710_104255
