Inside Line Promotions – POCOLA, Okla. (June 17, 2024) – Jordon Mallett produced a top-10 result during all four ASCS National Tour Speedweek races last week with the best saved for last.

Mallett and Brandon Anderson Motorsports posted a sixth-place finish last Tuesday at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Ark.; ninth-place results on Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., and Friday at Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Okla.; and a second-place showing on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway.

The strong week landed Mallett tied for third place in the Speedweek standings.

“After Saturday night, big picture, we’re in a better direction,” Mallett said. “We were always good right out of the gate every night. We’d qualify good and heat race good. Then it was like in the feature we’d start strong, but not be good at the end.”

Mallett qualified third quickest in his group and placed second in a heat race before advancing from eighth to sixth place in the A Main at Texarkana 67 Speedway.

“We finished sixth, but had a fourth-place car,” he said. “I should have moved up to the top of the race track toward the end of the race and we’d have preserved fourth. We got blasted on a restart by a couple of guys who jumped up there and I didn’t get up quick enough.”

Mallett was second quickest in his qualifying group before he won a heat race and placed sixth in the dash at Creek County Speedway.

“We rolled into Creek and timed in good and heat raced good,” he said. “I made an error in the dash. They had watered the track before the dash. I got too aggressive and ducked down too low going into turn one. I got into some grease and spun it out. We started sixth in the feature and we were good early on running third or fourth. About the last eight or 10 laps the car started to go away and I couldn’t do anything right. It didn’t matter where I ran on the track, it was like we threw a boat anchor out. Come to find out we had a bleeder break.”

The team timed in second quickest in a qualifying group before finishing second in a heat race at Arrowhead Speedway.

“We were good in qualifying and the heat race, but we missed it in the feature,” he said. “We could move around, but got too tight running the bottom when everybody moved down. We struggled on the top at times as well. It was just an off night in that feature.”

It all came together on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway, where Mallett qualified second quickest in his group and ended third in a heat race before rallying from eighth to second place in the A Main.

“We timed in good and heat raced all right, but having to start on the inside in the heat race was not ideal,” he said. “In the feature it was a cumulative effect of we were wanting to get aggressive to find something to move forward because the features had been our weak point all Speedweek. We said let’s go with what we think we need and go way past that. We swung for the fences and wound up with a really good race car. We look forward to moving on because we found what helps us claw forward and be more comfortable in a feature.”

The second-place showing tied a career best for Brandon Anderson Motorsports with the ASCS National Tour.

Mallett and the team will compete this Saturday at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Ark., with the ASCS National Tour. He placed fourth at the track in 2022 during his most recent visit.
