Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (July 2, 2024) – Jordon Mallett wrapped up his driving duties for Brandon Anderson Motorsports last weekend during an ASCS National Tour doubleheader at Tulsa Speedway.

Mallett ended his time behind the wheel with one win, three top fives and seven top 10s in eight feature races.

“I’m grateful for the phone call and the opportunity to drive for them,” he said. “They brought me in and treated me like family. This sport is a vicious sport and it’s really cool when things work out and you can mesh with people. I felt we did a really good job of all meshing from the start. They gave us the equipment and resources to not only be fast and competitive each night, but to win. I felt I was able to do the job I was tasked with to the best of my ability. It’s not easy to jump in someone else’s car and to only have one night in eight races of finishing outside the top 10 showed how well we gelled.”

Last weekend got off to a frustrating start with Mallett qualifying seventh quickest in his group. He placed seventh in a heat race and fifth in the B Main to transfer into the back of the main event. Mallett gained a pair of positions in the feature to end 18th.

“It was one of those nights when we just didn’t seem to be good,” he said. “We timed in terrible and just struggled to find balance at that track. It happens from time to time.

“That was the worst qualifying I’d had with the team. We hadn’t qualified outside the top two in our group other than once or twice. We were buried and had to start at the back in all the races. That place is tough to pass on so if you get behind in qualifying you’re really in a bad spot. Once our qualifying result was off like it was we knew it was going to be an uphill battle all night and it was.”

Mallett rebounded on Saturday as he qualified third quickest in his group and won a heat race to advance into the dash. Unfortunately, rain wiped out the remainder of the racing program.

“It’s a very humbling sport and I’ve learned you have to have a short memory,” he said. “We worked on it Saturday and changed up quite a bit of stuff on the race car knowing what we’d dealt with the night before. We came out swinging more at our normal stride. I felt we had a really, really good race car and then the rain came. That was a disappointing way to end the night because I felt we had a car that could contend.”

Mallett plans to take this weekend off before he returns to his sprint car July 13 at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Miss., with the ASCS Hurricane Area Super Sprints.
