Wilson Heading to New York Following Top 10 During Sprint Car World Championship

Inside Line Promotions – MANSFIELD, Ohio (June 3, 2019) – Greg Wilson earned his sixth top 10 of the season last Friday at Mansfield Motor Speedway during the only night of the COMP Cams Sprint Car World Championship that was contested.
Unfortunately, rain washed out both the opener on Thursday and the finale on Saturday.
Wilson rebounded from an 18th-place qualifying run on Friday to rally from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That locked him into an A Main and he advanced a pair of positions to post a 10th-place result.
“We were decent, but didn’t quite get the laps I felt we needed,” he said. “I was pretty excited going into the weekend to get three nights at the same place. The weather really didn’t cooperate.
“The track was challenging. At the beginning of the feature we weren’t that good. As we burned some fuel off and I changed how I was driving the track we got quite a bit better. I was happy with that.”
Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Off Road sponsored team head to New York this weekend for a trio of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races.
Wilson will make his debut at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee on Friday and at Stateline Speedway in Busti on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport.
“Weedsport is the only one of the three I’ve been to,” he said. “I’ve watched some videos and things like that on Outlaw and Stateline. I’m pretty excited. It looks like we’ll be at three bullrings this weekend. Right now that fits our program.”
Prior to the race weekend Wilson will visit Finger Lakes Tire in Auburn, N.Y., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Thursday for a Hercules Tires dealership visit.
“It’ll be fun to get back in the swing of that and spend some time with the Hercules Tires people,” he said. “I’m looking forward to this weekend.”
