Bryan Hulbert – MASON CITY, Iowa (August 1, 2018) Taking in three nights of racing across Minnesota and Iowa this past weekend in the Raw Machinery No. 99, Skylar Gee ended on a high note with a runner-up finish at Mason City Motor Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

Starting off with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at the Jackson Motorplex on Friday night, Skylar was 20th fastest overall in Time Trials with a 13.184-second lap. Finishing sixth in the first Heat Race, the result was having to dig through the B-Feature where he would come up one spot shy of the transfer.

“I learned a few things. Running the 410 on Friday, we were able to try some setups to get ready for Knoxville. With the field of cars, we had, and not running the 410 very much this year, I felt like we did okay at Jackson,” commented Gee.

Swapping to the ASCS powerplant on Saturday for Knoxville Raceway, Skylar started the night with a ninth-place showing in Time Trials at 16.095 seconds. Fifth in the fourth Heat Race Skylar pulled enough points to grid the A-Feature ninth with a result of eighth.

On the Saturday appearance, Skylar stated, “We’ve been fast pretty much every time we’ve been here. I feel like we were a little off this past Saturday. Started ninth and finished eighth so we could have had the car a little bit better, but we got our good engine back, so we're just getting ready to this weekend.”

Finishing second to Sam Hafertepe, Jr. on Sunday at Mason City Motor Speedway, the run was a proving ground of what Skylar is using for this weekend’s 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank.

“We have a fast car and it definitely feels good going into this weekend compared to where we were at last year. Coming into an event like this with some confidence in yourself and the car, I feel like we have what we need to put on a good show and might have a shot.”

The Pat Beck Motorsports No. 99 hits the track at Knoxville Raceway on Thursday, August 2. For live updates, log onto https://www.knoxvilleraceway.com and for live video go to http://www.thecushion.com. Skylar will also be in action on Sunday, August 5 for the Capitani Classic.
