Big Game Motorsports and Madsen Sweep Night at Jackson Motorplex

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSON, Minn. (Sept. 4, 2017) – Kerry Madsen has had an extremely fast race car every time he’s competed at Jackson Motorplex this season and last Saturday was no exception.

Madsen guided the Muddy sponsored Big Game Motorsports team to the quickest time during qualifying before he charged to a runner-up result in a heat race on Friday to open the weekend. Unfortunately, a rain storm cancelled the main event.

The speed continued for Madsen on Saturday when the half-mile oval put up $10,000 to the winner. Madsen established quick time during qualifying. He then maneuvered from sixth to win a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the fourth row for the 20-lap A Main.

“They redid the track and made it pretty racy for the A Main,” he said. “I thought on one of the restarts I’d be in trouble because I passed two cars and then the yellow came out (to give them back their positions). I thought I showed them the best line. I found a different way. We had a pretty good car and could go top or bottom.”

Madsen advanced into fourth place by Lap 10. A couple of laps later he was into third place and when the top two drivers began to trade the lead with slide jobs, Madsen closed the gap and made it a three-way battle for the top spot with five laps remaining.

“I was pushing hard, but I figured I’d get one and then the other,” he said. “It worked out I got them both at the same. They were moving around off line and sliding each other. I could just stay in my line. I was catching them at a good pace. They both slid each other off turn four. It ended up being a little easier than I thought.”

Madsen made a bold move as he powered to the bottom of turn one, making it three wide for the top spot. He slid across turns one and two to take the lead and never looked back en route to his track-best third triumph of the season.

“It was getting frustrating not getting more wins,” he said. “For them bumping the purse to $10,000 to win, I really wanted to win that one. I pushed as hard as I could and it worked out.”

Big Game Motorsports is slated to head east this week to compete on Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the Tuscarora 50 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
