White City, Oregon- Southern Oregon Speedway returned for the final leg of the Super Showdown weekend on Saturday, August 13th. The Super Late Models would be battling for one of the most significant paying events in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Northern SportMods, and Mini Stocks would also be on hand.

Preston Luckman would be the master of the weekend by winning night two in the Super Late Model division. The Coos Bay driver won the previous night and took home some big money and trophies. Lebanon’s McLain Beaudoin beat out Joey Tanner from Portland, racing for the Mitchell family, for second. Miles Deubert held off Medford veteran Rich McCoy to end the race fourth.

In the IMCA Modified main event, Klamath Falls operator Zach Fettinger conquered the competition for the first time this year. Preston Luckman, pulling double duty, was the runner-up over Keno driver Jeffrey Hudson, racing for car owner Don Roemer. Paul Culp of Creswell and Central Point’s Jesse Bailey was the balance of the top five in fourth and fifth.

For the IMCA Northern SportMods, Matt Sanders hit pay dirt. It was the second time that the Brookings driver finished in first place at Southern Oregon in 2022. Californians Ethan Killingsworth from Yreka and Gazelle’s Jace Wright were second and third. Ryan Peery, also of Yreka, hit the wire fourth over fifth finishing Isaac Sanders from Brookings.

White City’s Ashtin Hedges kept his 2022 unblemished record intact in the Mini Stocks. Hedges now has six visits to victory lane this year. Dylan Irving of Grants Pass ended the evening second while Tim Hedges got third. Scott Yerges and Shady Cove chauffeur Brad Lenz were fourth and fifth.

Southern Oregon Speedway is back in action this weekend on Friday, August 19th, and Saturday, the 20th, for another doubleheader weekend. Friday night will be reserved for the Bruce Rayburn Classes presented by the Pacific Sport Mods. It will pay $5,500 to win the IMCA Modified feature and $1,000 for the IMCA Northern SportMods. Mini Stocks will also be in attendance.

On Saturday, August 20th, the IMCA Northern SportMods will duke it out for $3,000 to win the Dwayne Melvin Clash, also presented by the Pacific Sport Mods. IMCA Modifieds will return, and the Super 4’s will also be on the bill. For more information, log on to www.southernoregonmotorsports.com.
