Lancaster's NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Race Taking Shape

LANCASTER, N.Y. (June 25, 2024) – On August 3, 2024, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will return to the Lancaster Motorplex in Lancaster, NY, for the third running of the Nu-Way Auto Parts 150. The event is part of the Motorplex’s 65th anniversary celebration.

Defending race winner Austin Beers of Northampton, PA, will be looking to continue his mid-season momentum with another victory at the racy half-mile. Patrick Emerling, of Orchard Park, NY, winner of the inaugural Nu-Way Auto Parts 150, hopes to turn his home track advantage into a repeat victory. A tight point battle will undoubtedly follow the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to Western NY.

All competitors will be looking to add their name to an illustrious list of Modified winners that includes the likes of Richie Evans, Maynard Troyer, Jerry, Cook, Geoff Bodine, Jim Shampine, and local legends like Sege Fidanza, Roger and Merv Treichler. Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour competitors Tony Hirschman, Rick Fuller, Mike McLaughlin, Reggie Ruggiero, Jan Leaty, Chuck Hossfeld, Tim Mangus, and Eric Beers have all scored Modified wins during Lancaster’s 65-year history.

Current tour competitors with Modified wins at the tricky oval include Matt Hirschman, also of Northampton, PA, Emerling, and Tyler Rypkema, of Owego, NY. Tommy and Trevor Catalano of Ontario, NY, have feature wins at Lancaster in Sportsman Modified competition, as does Tommy’s crew chief Rick Kluth. Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY made his first Tour start at Louden, NH and has scored both a Modified and Sportsman win at Lancaster, driving the Joey Sterns owned and prepared entry, with Lancaster Modified legend Billy Putney of East Aurora, NY serving as his crew chief.

A full-racing card on Saturday, August 3 will also include the track’s Insinger Performance/VP Race Fuels Sportsman, Monroe Extinguisher Street Stocks, and the Rusty Diamond Cores Pro 4’s. Fireworks once again will be presented by Skylighters of New York. Title sponsor Nu-Way Auto Parts is joined by supporters Franco’s Pizza, Thermal Foams, Russell’s Steaks, Chops, & More, and West Herr Auto Group.

Tickets will be on sale on Saturday, June 29, at SeetheEvents.com. The event website is hosted by Speed Enterprises Entertainment in conjunction with Lancaster Motorplex. A full schedule will be released in the coming weeks.

Best known for Niagara Falls, the local area offers tons of amenities for competitors and fans alike. Plan a visit that could also include the Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park, Buffalo Zoo, Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, Six Flags Darien Lake, and more.

A number of hotels are located just miles from Lancaster Motorplex including Salvatore's Garden Place, The Delavan Hotel & Spa, and Salvatore’s Grand.
