2020 SCHEDULE RELEASED

The schedule for the 2020 racing season at the Battlefield Cochran Motor Speedway has been released and it is sprinkled with some big money events, special shows and action packed Saturday nights at the 3/8ths mile speed plant in Cochran, Georgia.  Chris and Joni Martin released their plans for new racing season earlier today and are excited about hosting fans, drivers and crew members to the track.  Chris Martin was awarded the southeastern regional Promoter of the Year Award from Racing Promotion Monthly in 2019 and is looking forward to looking into this bag of promotions for this year.

"We were honored to be selected as the regional award winners," said Martin. "But, that puts more pressure on us to continue to improve, forge new roads and build upon the work our staff has done so far.  We have added some big dollar events to the plans this year and we will need everyone's support for those races to be successful."

The special events will open the season with a double-header weekend on March 14 and 15 as the track hosts the postponed World Championship race on Saturday, March 14th and an added special on Sunday, March 15th.  The World Championship race features Crate Racing Street Stocks $5000 to win special that was lost to weather back in December along with the Crate Late Models chasing after a $10,000 to win payday.  The next day Martin decided to host the Crate Racing Crate Late Model Tour and a $5000 winner's purse along the Street Stock guys getting another good payoff with a $1000 to win race.  There is also other divisions racing creating an opportunity for all drivers to shake the rust and get racing.

"We wanted all the driver who came in that weekend back in December only to see the weather take us out, to come back and have an opportunity to race a couple of times," explained Martin.  "A couple of races, a couple of purses, can hopefully make it more easy to schedule to come back and race."

Martin will welcome the return of the World of Outlaw Late Model tour in May.  This will be the second straight year that Cochran Motor Speedway has hosted the national touring series and will make the only stop in the state of Georgia.

Events throughout the summer include specials for all of the regular divisions at Cochran Motor Speedway and lead into a multitude of money races next fall.  The Labor Day Shoot-Out will be headlined by a $20,000 to win Crate Late Model show.  November's Gobbler 100 weekend will feature a pair of Super Late Model races paying $7500 and $20,000 to win while the track's annual New Year's Bash will once again host the Street Stock World Championship paying $5000 to win and Crate Late Models paying $10,000 to win.

"We are really excited to get the new season rolling," said Martin with a sly smile.  "The track is too quiet during the off season."
