SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. – Though he didn’t collect what would’ve been his fourth consecutive win on Saturday, Gunner Ramey’s effort was impressive. The young driver fought through an incident before the green flag ever waved, guiding his Pace Chassis to a third-place finish.

The race night at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex began with a slightly lower car count than usual, with 12 restrictor class competitors in attendance. Ramey’s pill draw put him starting inside the second row for his heat race. He took the second position early in the ten-lap race, proceeding to finish second.

Ramey’s high point average means that he often starts the main event from the back. Starting in tenth, things would go awry just as the field would move from the staging lane out onto the racing surface. When another car slowed abruptly in front of the Impact Signs No. 28, he was stuck behind him with nowhere to go. Another competitor made contact from behind and pushed Ramey into the car in front of him, significantly damaging his nose wing. Nevertheless, the race would go on as planned. After the dust settled on the pre-race debacle, Ramey would end up taking the green flag from row five. It was apparent that the wing damage was affecting the handling on his car, as it was noticeably harder for him to navigate around the cars ahead of him. The win would be out of reach, but Ramey’s wrestling of the machine eventually earned him the final step of the podium.

Ramey would like to thank Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps, Sure Coat Powdercoating, Rob Sneed Shorthorns, McKinney Construction, Ramey Dirtworks, Southwest Storage, 8760 Service Group, Rod End Supply, Factory Kahne Midwest, MYCHRONTOM, and Quick Engineering, as well as his family and the Renfro, Houston, and Cornell families for their continued support.

Ramey is next scheduled to compete on July 25 at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex in Sweet Springs, Mo. in the No. 28 600cc micro sprint entry.
