Sides Resumes World of Outlaws Action This Weekend in Texas

Inside Line Promotions – BARTLETT, Tenn. (March 9, 2020) – Jason Sides is trekking to Texas this weekend for a pair of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races.

Sides and ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ invade Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige on Friday and LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore on Saturday for the East Texas Lone Star Shootout.

“It will be good to get back to racing,” he said. “We’ve been home long enough now. I’m looking forward to getting back on the road and into the swing of things. Volusia didn’t start off the season very well. We took the last month off and we’ll see if we can start over this weekend.”

Sides has two career starts at Cotton Bowl Speedway, where he recorded a 14th-place finish during his most recent visit in April 2018. He also placed 16th at the track in February 2016.

“The last time I was there I hit an infield tire and it bent the drag link,” he said. “I kept running around the bottom and ended up pulling off the track when it broke. Hopefully Friday goes a little smoother.”

Sides has 14 career starts at LoneStar Speedway between World of Outlaws and 360ci sprint car action. He has posted nine top 10s at the oval, including a fifth-place run in 2010. His most recent outing was in March 2017.

“Three years ago we were running seventh and got spun,” he said. “Then someone hit me and it bent that car in half. At least we had speed. We’ve had a lot of good runs there. I can remember running back there in 1996 when the track was a bigger.”
