STARK SCORES FIRST MIDWEST TRUCK SERIES WIN IN FALLOWEEN 50
The Midwest Truck Series was back in action this past Saturday October 21st for an Afternoon Finale to wrap up the 2023 season. 26 Trucks were on hand and ready to battle it out. Leading the way in Six08 Graphics Qualifying was James Lynch with a lap of 14.137. Next up would be 3 heat races with veteran driver Jerry Wood winning heat race number 1. James Swan would go on to win heat 2 and Brad JJ Mueller would win heat 3. With 26 Trucks on hand a Last Chance Race was needed. James Swan would go on to win the 15 lap Last Chance Race. Next up would be the Gandrud Chevrolet Performance Falloween 50.
Leading the field to green would be Derek Doerr and Kevin Zielezinski. Doerr would get the early advantage and take the lead on lap 1 with Zielezinski right in striking distance. The first caution would come out on lap 3 when Grant Griesbach would go around on the backstretch. On the restart it would be Doerr getting the advantage. Lap 7 would see Zielezinski get to the inside on Doerr off of turn 4 and get underneath him as the two would drag race into turn 1. Jason Stark would be in 3rd with Jeff Holtz 4th and Kevin Knuese 5th. Lap 8 would see the 2nd caution come out as Tyler Noble would go around in turn 2. On the restart Zielezinski would take the lead and Jason Stark would follow him into 2nd on the bottom. Lap 12 would see Chester Ace make his way into the 5th spot. Lap 14 would see Aaron Moyer and Ace battle for 5th and Moyer would take the spot. One lap later the caution would come out after contact between Ace and Moyer would send Moyer around. Ace would tap out taking the blame for the caution giving Moyer his spot back. On the restart Zielezinski would run away from the field with Stark 2nd, Doerr 3rd, Moyer would move into 4th and Lynch would move into the top 5. Lap 23 would see Lynch get by Moyer for 4th. As the race went on Stark would start to gain on Zielezinski like an animal stalking its prey. Lap 30 would see Stark get underneath Zielezinski off of turn 2 and make a clean pass on the inside for the lead. Lynch would move into 3rd with Doerr 4th and Swan moving into 5th. Lap 41 would see Lynch get past Zielezinski for 2nd with Swan now up to 4th and Moyer 5th. As the laps winded down you could throw a blanket over the top 3. As the final checkered flag of the season would wave it would be Stark taking home his 1st career Midwest Truck Series win with Lynch 2nd, Moyer 3rd, Swan 4th and Bryce Miller would round out the top 5.
That concludes racing for the 2023 season. One that will go down in the record books as one of the best seasons in Truck Series History. Multiple winners, great side by side races and consistent strong Truck counts throughout the whole season.
