Shaw, Turner, Davis among I-35 Speedway winners

By Phillip Wilson (Winston, MO) -- One hundred and twenty-one cars checked in on Good Shepherd Hospice Night at I-35 Speedway as we all came together to celebrate a racing legend, the late, great Bud Wilson. The track staff put together a great track for the drivers and the drivers in turn put on great three to four wide racing for the fans.

E-Mods were first to hit the track for their A-feature as ‘Rowdy’ Chris Dishong made a return trip to I-35 Speedway a successful one picking up his fifth feature win at the track this season. Current points leader and 11 time feature winner Michael Taylor III finished second, George Burnett third, Lane Mathews fourth and Adam Dunwoodie fifth.

Next out was the Pure Stocks for their A-feature, with points leader Rieli Yonts picked up another feature win as he led every lap. Travis Cavin raced his way up to a second place finish followed but Jimmy Smith, Kristchon Hisel and Blaine Yonts.

In the POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints, Chase Fischer led only 1 lap, but it was the most important one to pick up his second feature win of the season at I-35 Speedway. Tony Layne led most of the feature but faded back to second. Jeff Bard led some laps but finished third with Bobby Lane fourth and Trice Rodan fifth.

Up next were the Midwest Limited Late Models with points leader Kerry Davis picking up his 9th feature win of the season which is half way to his 2020 feature wins of 18. A great battle went on for much of the race for second and third with Houston Johnson taking second, Tommy Cordray third, Terry VanTrump fourth and Brad Dibben fifth.

The Wilson family got enough sponsorship to pay the winner of the B-Mod feature $1,000 as Shadren Turner picked up his 5th win of the season driving for Troy Whitt. Tyler Cadwallader lead early but slipped back to second. Ethan Isaacs finished third, Terry Schultz fourth and Cole Moore finished fifth in only his third night out this season.

In the USRA Stock Cars, Austin Bouzek made his return a successful one picking up feature win number six. Points leader and last week’s feature winner Michael Knight finished second. 2019 track champion and multiple feature winner Jeff Dixon finished third with Aaron Sauter and Brad Whitney rounding out the top 5.

In the USRA Modifieds, Darren Shaw picked up his first feature win of 2021. Points leader Houston Johnson finished second, followed by Daniel Harris, Austin Johnson and Ed Knoll.

Sports Compacts finished out the night. Points leader Brad Mick got married earlier in the day and capped his night off with his 6th feature win of the season. Newcomer Andrew Akers was right behind him in second, followed by Mikel Solberg, Chris Nichols and Harold Robb Jr.

In Little Buddies Power Wheels action, the top two in 6 volt were Jackson Keller and Insley Bonnett. And the top two in 12 volts were Creed Wilson and Racelyn Romesburg.

Fan of the week Karsyn Reeber, sponsored by Racing for Jesus Bonnett Racing, Silkwood Fanily Racing, the Bud Wilson family, Cody Ohrenburg Racing, Dixon Racing, Shadren Turner Racing, Waterbury Racing, Spencer Racing, Ground Motorsports and Kyle Henning Racing.

Join us next week for more exiting racing on Tompkins Industries Night at I-35 Speedway.
