Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Dec. 2, 2014) – Tyson Hall ended his 2014 season in his home state of Texas last weekend by scoring a top 10 at the 5th annual Longhorn Shootout.
However, he and car owner Tony Batt used the micro sprint event at Resistol Arena on Friday and Saturday as more of a test session for the upcoming Tulsa Shootout – an event that kicks off the 2015 season.
“We changed a bunch of stuff on the car thinking it will help us in the Shootout,” Hall said. “We wanted to learn about the car. It was kind of a one-lane track without much passing. It was more about the luck of the draw all weekend.”
Hall didn’t have much luck on Saturday during the main events.
He started the winged feature on the outside of the fourth row, but was caught up in an early incident.
“On the first lap a guy spun out on the front row,” he said. “I stopped so I didn’t hit him and they put us at the back. We had to make our way back up through there.”
Hall maneuvered from the back of the pack to score a seventh-place result during the 25-lap feature.
“We were moving forward,” he said. “The car felt real good. I just wish we wouldn’t have got in that deal at the beginning of the race.”
The night ended early during the 50-lap nonwing main event. Hall was unable to finish after a parts failure only a handful of laps into the race.
“The left rear wishbone broke on the car,” he said. “I’ve never seen one break in half. The track was real rough so I guess that’s what caused it.”
Hall will return to action Dec. 31 to Jan. 3 at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla., for the 30th annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout, which marks the first event of the 2015 season.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – Tony Batt
Hall drove a micro sprint during part of the 2014 season for Tony Batt, who has owned race cars for several years around the Texas area. The duo combined for a pair of wins this year.
“I can’t thank Tony enough for the help and the opportunity,” Hall said. “I know I’ve always got a shot to win in his car. We picked up a couple of victories this year, which is a credit to his hard work.”
Hall would also like to thank Pine Tree Motors, Tidwell Tire Center, Tim’s Shock Lab, Dealers Detail and Robert Hall for their continued support.
