Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 9, 2018) – Last weekend was a long one for Brian Brown, whose team ventured to Arizona Speedway to tackle the Arizona Desert Shootout on Saturday.

“It was a long trip,” he said. “Thanks to Chad and Michael for all they do. It’s about a 20-hour trip one way. We chose to head from California to Wichita, Kan., the previous week so we had to go back to Arizona.”

Brown kicked off the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race by participating in a meet-and-greet event for FVP.

“There were about 150 FVP customers and employees that we met,” he said. “The World of Outlaws do a phenomenal job of hosting those guys so we want to thank them.”

Brown began the action on the track by qualifying sixth quickest before he placed second in a heat race to garner a spot into the dash.

“It started off good,” he said. “You have to keep yourself in position. We had a tough heat with Donny (Schatz) and (David) Gravel behind us.”

A sixth-place finish in the dash started Brown on the outside of the third row for the A Main.

“We made some good adjustments prior to the feature and we were decent,” he said. “We were up to fourth and back to sixth, battling in that range. There was a double-file restart midway through. We got going pretty well, but I got tight in turns one and two and didn’t get a good run down the backstretch. It let Brad (Sweet) get a run on me in turns three and four. He tried a little slider. I pushed the issue and got over the cushion and crashed us both.

“Everything happened so fast. The cushion was built up pretty good off turn four. I didn’t get down the back straightaway very good so I left myself open. He did what he had to do and unfortunately I collected us both there.”

Brown was unable to restart the race and he was credited with a 22nd-place result.

Weather permitting, Brown is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the 65th annual Season Opener. He won last season’s season opener as well as in 2007.

“The opener is very important to us,” he said. “Plus, being able to race in front of the great people from Casey’s General Stores is great as well. We’ve got a few races under our belt this season so we’re looking to get in there and have a good night.”
