Koz wins Modified Mayhem, Horstman and Anderson also winners

Allentown, OH
May 6, 2016
After 2 weeks of Mother Nature pouring down on the ¼ mile of Thunder at Limaland Motorsports Park, the fans and teams alike were ready for a great night of racing. They definitely didn’t leave disappointed with Jeff Koz picking up the win in the rescheduled Modified Mayhem event. Jared Horstman would win the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invader A Main, and Tony Anderson would grab the Bud Thunderstock feature.

Kicking off the nights racing action were the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invaders with the McDonalds Dash for Cash. #6s JR Stewart, #2 Kyle Sauder, #5m “Mad”Max Stambaugh, and #17 Jared Horstman would start and finish the dash in that order.
Next up the fans were treated with some time to mingle with the drivers, thanks to Post Printing presenting Meet the Drivers Night. Drivers from all classes came to the general admission side of the track, and signed autographs, and gave goodies to the fans.

After heat races and B Mains, the K&N Filters UMP Modifieds would be first in feature action, battling for the $1000 top prize in the 16th Annual “Modified Mayhem” event, presented by K&N. Mayhem was the key word in the modifieds as a pileup ensued at the drop of the green flag with the #01 of UNOH Racer Jared Spalding nearly getting upside down on the frontstretch. Spalding would be able to keep his car rolling, but #10 Scott Bowersock, #22L Bill Lewis, and #57 Tyler Fitzpatrick would stop on the frontstretch, bringing out the caution. On the complete restart, #10L Nathan Loney would get out to the lead with #17n Dylan Nusbaum, and #34x Andy Bibler in tow. A lap 10 caution for debris would allow the field to tighten back up, with the restart nearly ending in disaster as Bibler got a great run on the top of turns 1 and 2, then lopst the handle, as the #34x Ferris mowers machine would spin in front of the entire field. Bibler would battle back to grab 9th. Race leader Loney would would have problems and relegate the lead to Koz who battled 3 wide for several laps with #35 Bobby Stremme, and Nusbaum. Koz would pull away for the win over Nusbaum, Stremme, #65 Todd Sherman who won B Main #1 and started 17th. 5th was #22T Tony Anderson. Heat races were won by Stremme, #3w Dylan Woodling, Bibler, and Anderson.

Next up was the K&L Ready Mix NRA Sprint Invader A Main. The front row of #2Kyle Sauder and #11 Tim Allison would lead the field to green, but the yellow flag would wave for #57 Mike Dunlap, and #10 Mitch Brown. Dunlap would be able to refire, with Brown’s night ending on the wrecker. After a complete restart, Allison would take off with the lead with Sauder right behind. Horstman would move up to 3rd on lap 3 and the leaders would race their way to lapped traffic on lap 10, as the battle for the lead heated up. Sauder would close to the bumper of Allison a few times, but Allison made the best of lapped traffic and looked to be pulling away until caution waved once again on lap 15 for #6 Sean Hosey spinning in turn 3. On the restart, Sauder powered by Allison up high in turn 1 to grab the lead, and the yellow flag waved again on lap 16 for debris. On the restart Horstman was able to power by Allison as well, and set to stalking Sauder for the lead. On lap 22, Horstman would pull the trigger and make his move with a slidejob in turns 1 and 2. Sauder attempted to turn back under Horstman, but would do a 360 in front of the rest of the field, gathering the car up to remain in 4th. Horstman would stretch out to the win over Allison, Sauder, JR Stewart, and Stambaugh. Heat races were won by #23 Devon Dobie, #27 Brad Lamberson, and Allison.

Closing out the night was the Bud Thunderstock A Main. #1 Justin Hamilton, and #67 Eddie Shaner would lead the field to green with carnage ensuing right away as #82 “Big Daddy”Chris Douglas would get spun on the front stretch and come to a stop. On the restart The field would make it a half lap before #74 Craig Dippman, #54 Dan Wooten, and #17L Jarrod Klay would tangle hard on the backstretch with Dippman being assisted from his car but did not require treatment. His car and Wootens, however were done for the night. As the race finally got rolling, it was Shaner who would pull out to the early advantage, with Anderson working the bottom to get to 2nd. Shaner would bring out a caution on lap 5 as he slowed in front of the field with apparent front end issues. That would hand the lead to Anderson, who would take off on the restart but have a great show going on behind him with #27 Frank Paladino, Hamilton, and #19 Bill Reimund battling 3 wide for several laps for the 2nd spot. Hamilton would pound the backstretch wall and lose several spots, but a caution on the same lap would revert the field back to their previous lap order. On the restart, Anderson would take off again but this time with Paladino close behind. Anderson would survive a single lap shoot out after a final caution on lap 14 slowed the field. Paladino would come home 2nd, followed by #1J Jason Jimison, #17 Jeremy Creech, and #2 Blake Spalding completing the top 5. Heat races were won by Dippman, Paladino and Anderson.
Limaland Motorsports Park roars back to life on Friday May 13th when Alexander and Bebout present the 81st Anniversary Race, featuring the K&L Ready Mix Sprint Invaders, K&N Filters UMP Modifieds, and the Bud Thunderstocks.
