Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Nov. 19, 2014) – Channin Tankersley had mirror results last weekend during his final two races of the season.

Tankersley made his debut at Cocopah Speedway, where the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour wrapped up the season on Friday and Saturday for the Cocopah Cup Challenge.

“It wasn’t horrible, but it definitely could have been better,” he said. “We raced our way into the show both nights. We just never could get a good break to get rolling. We had enough speed to make the show. We just didn’t have enough speed to move forward.”

Tankersley advanced from sixth to fifth place during his heat race each night and he finished third in a B Main both nights to transfer into the main events.

“We started out with our baseline setup and it was pretty decent,” he said. “We started working on it from there and it just never got better. We were average the whole weekend.”

Tankersley, who started on the outside of the 11th row in the main event both nights, ended with a 23rd-place result on Friday. He pulled into the pits early on Saturday.

“The engine started getting a little hot and I didn’t want to take a chance hurting the motor so I pulled off,” he said. “It certainly wasn’t the way we wanted to end the season.”

Tankersley returned to Texas this week and he is poised to accept his championship trophy this Saturday at the ASCS Gulf South Region banquet.

“We have a lot of things to be proud of this year,” he said. “It was a great season and I’m excited to build on it next year.”
