McCarter Begins Sunshine Nationals

On Thursday night Pierce McCarter made the trip to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) as the Sunshine Nationals came to life. Drawing 41 Newsome Crate Racin’ USA Winter Series entries, McCarter came in fifth fastest in his qualifying group before placing second in his heat behind Cory Almond. Starting the opening night feature in sixth, Pierce was collected in a tangle that forced him pitside with three laps remaining.

The following night, Pierce edged his way into the $2,000-to-win A-Main with the fifth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting the feature in 17th, McCarter dropped two spots in the 25-lapper to record a 20th place outing.

For the final round of the Sunshine Nationals on Saturday, McCarter followed up the third fastest lap in his time trial group with a fourth place finish in his heat. Starting the $10,000-to-win finale in 23rd, Pierce passed ten cars in the 30-lap affair to place 13th.
