BMARA: Were you a fan of racing before you got behind the wheel and if so, who were your heroes and what tracks did you attend?
CODY: Kevin "Money Man" Doty was my guy. I used to watch the team maintaining the car at the McGovern’s Hotel parking lot in Sun Prairie, when he came to town.
BMARA: Give us a synopsis of your racing career.
CODY: Chad Deselle helped get us into karting when I was 11 years old. I did that for 3 years.
Then Randy Sippel got us into a 1200 mini sprint at 14 years old. I did that for 2 years.
I got my start in midget racing with the help of Brandon Waelti, driving a second, legendary #3 car a handful of times.
The following year we bought a car from Jim Fiscus.
BMARA: How much time do you spend on the car each week during the season?
CODY: We have a weekly checklist for maintenance which is routine at this point.
BMARA: What is your day job and how does racing fit in?
CODY: I work at Prairie Hardwoods, a custom woodshop that makes custom moldings, trim work, custom wood projects, butcher blocks.
BMARA: What's something interesting the fans might not know about you?
CODY: I co-parent two chihuahuas.
I am a former OBHL men's hockey professional beer league champion, in Sun Prairie.
