Lawrence Rebounds for Sixth-Place Finish After Late-Race Trouble

Inside Line Promotions – TYLER, Texas (Aug. 15, 2017) – Zane Lawrence rallied to a sixth-place finish last Saturday after encountering a late-race problem at Rose Bowl Speedway during the Sprint Car Bandits Series main event.

“We’ve had a couple weeks off due to rain and personal commitments so we were ready to get back on track,” he said. “This was a new track for me, but it kind of reminded me of Lone Star Speedway in a way.”

Lawrence ended his heat race with a third-place result after starting on the outside of third row.

“We felt good about the car after hot laps and the heat race,” he said. “We had a fast car and definitely wanted to carry that momentum into the feature.”

The heat race performance locked Lawrence into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 6 to start the main event sixth. He maneuvered his way into the top three and was battling for second place when a blown right rear tire forced him to relinquish that battle and make his way into the work area.

After mounting a new right rear tire, Lawrence restarted from the tail of the field with nine laps to go. He then powered his way toward the front once again before ending with a sixth-place finish, which was his 13th top 10 of the season.

Lawrence will return to action this Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and Saturday at South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas, with ASCS Gulf South Region. He enters the weekend ranked second in the championship standings.
