Dwarf car driver Taylyr Hamernyk straps into his Dwarf car for the 25 lap feature. Minutes after starting the feature, Hamernyk looses control of his vehicle coming out of turn 2 at 4-17 Southern Speedway, and his car burst into flames as it flipped numerous times.
This is the live video clip from the Dwarf car crash of Taylyr Hamernyk, from his go pro that was strapped in only moments before. This video shows the importance of proper safety gear. Thankfully Taylyr was wearing proper safety gear, and his car was up to safety standards - he not only survived this incident, but did so with only a concussion and bruising. Taylyr asked that all the fans be thanked for their support. He also asked that a HUGE "shout out" be given to the 4-17 SSE Safety team, 4-17SSE track side crew, Joe Gentry, Bigley Motorsports, and all other individuals that assisted in his safe extrication.
After initial impact, Hamernyk was unconscious and unable to respond. Prior to extrication, Hamernyk was reported unconscious for over 5 minutes. During this time, the 4-17 SSE safety crew was able to extinguish the fire and begin the extrication process.
We are happy to report that Hamernyk's injury was very minor in relation to his accident.
