Imperial, PA | 9.3.23 | For Immediate Release

One of the biggest crowds of the season was on hand at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday night for the season finale of the Ti 22 Performance FAST on Dirt 410 Sprint Car Series Presented by Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive. Plus, six other divisions of racing and family entertainment were on tap for your Labor Day Weekend 2023.

PPMS would see group qualifying, 12 heat races, and seven feature events. Jordan Ryan (25R), from Malt Licky, Texas, would pick up the win in the Ti 22 Performance FAST on Dirt 410 Sprint Car feature after starting P5. In the Jerry Rents RUSH Sportsman Modified feature, Ben Easler(02), from Linesville brought home his first career win. In Rohrich RUSH Dirt Late Model action, Brandon Burgoon (5X), from McDonald, picked up another win which gives him a slight edge in the points race. Christian Schneider (56), from Pittsburgh, got the win for the Penn Ohio Pro Stocks, while Stephen Shelpman (17P), from Pleasant Hills, picked up another win in the Hobby Stock Feature. Kyle Janas (88), from Coraopolis, continued to dominate the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder division as he would take home another victory, and  AJ Manganello (50) got his first career All Ways Safe Flagging And Traffic Control Young Guns win.

19 Ti 22 Performance 410 Winged Sprint Cars were on hand and set to do battle for their final show of the 2023 season. The stellar field of 410 Sprint Cars was broken into three groups for qualifying with Danny Sams III (24D), from North Port, Florida, setting the fast time in group one with a time of 18.480. Darrin Gallagher (12), from Butler, had the fast time in group two with a time of 18.359, and Jordan Ryan (25R) had the fast time for group three and the fastest overall with a time of 18.236. From there, the qualifying groups would stay the same for their three heat races with the winner from each heat, plus the fastest qualifier from that group that finished in the top five making the redraw. Dan Kuriger (08), from New Brighton, won heat race number one with Danny Sams III (24D) both making the redraw. Heat race number two was won by Lee Jacobs (81) with Darrin Gallagher (12) also making the redraw. And, the third and final heat had Mitch Harble (15) going from third to first in turns three and four to pick up the win, and Jordan Ryan (25R) also making the redraw.

In their 25-lap feature, Kuriger (08) would be the lucky dog and redraw as the pole sitter. Starting to his outside was Jacobs (81). The second row consisted of Sams III (24D) and Gallagher (12). When the green flag dropped, Jacobs (81) would jump out to the early lead with Gallagher (12) in tow in second, and Kuriger (08) in third. At the start of lap two, Kuriger (08) would take over the second spot as he was sticking to the low side of the track. Lapped traffic would come into play around lap five and Kuriger (08) had car trouble falling off of the pace around the same time which allowed Gallagher (12) to regain second. But not even a lap later Ryan (25R) would take over second knocking Gallagher (12) back to third with 18 laps remaining. Ryan (25R) would begin to close the gap on the leader Jacobs (81) and on lap 10, Ryan (25R) would make his move to take over the lead coming off of the low side of turn four. Lap 11 had Ryan (25R) still leading, Jacobs (81) in second, and AJ Flick (2) in third after starting P11. On lap 14, Flick (2) was all over Jacobs (81) for second as they came through turns three and four but Jacobs (81) would hold him off for now. On the next lap, Flick (2) would get the run he needed coming off of turn four to pass Jacobs (81) for second. Ryan (25R) had a 2.4-second advantage over Flick (2) on lap 16 as the duo both had to contend with lapped traffic. With two laps remaining, the event's first caution would come as Gallagher (12) had car trouble and couldn’t make it into the pits. Before the caution, Ryan (25R) had a 3.215-second lead over Flick (2), and now they would line up single-foul for the restart. When the green flag waved for the final time in the event, Ryan (25R) would keep his lead and dominate the final two laps to take home the $3,000 prize. He was followed by Flick (2) in second, Spithhaler (22) in third, Jacobs (81) in fourth, and Harble (15) rounded out the top five.

In the Jerry Rents RUSH Sportsman Modified 15-lap feature, Ben Easler (02) started on the pole with Chelsie Kriegisch (10) starting to his inside in second. Ayden Cipriano (5C) started in third, and Dalton Gabriel (333G) completed the second starting row in fourth. When the green flag dropped, Easler (02) would take the early lead with Kreigisch (10) in tow in second. By lap five, Easler (02) had over a two-second lead over the field. Kriegisch (10) and Cipriano (5C) would battle for second place for several laps with Cipriano (5C) taking over second by the middle of the event. Easler (02) would dominate the event and have around a 4.5-second advantage when he took the checkered flag for his first career PPMS win. Cipriano (5C) finished second, Kriegisch (10) third, Kole Holden (2) fourth, and Lucan Canon (2LC) rounded out the top five. The heat race winner was Cipriano (5C).

The points race has been heating up in the Rohrich RUSH Dirt Late Model division with Brandon Burgoon (5X) and Cole Petrelle (184) battling each week for the top spot and Saturday evening would follow suit with each of them winning their respective heat races. In their 20-lap feature, Jake Gunn (14G), from McDonald, would start on the pole. Daryl Charlier (42), from Midway, would start on the outside of row one. Ben Policz (14B), from Rices Landing, would start third, Frank Magill (05), from Jefferson Hills, would start fourth, while Petrelle (184) and Burgoon (5X) would start P5 and P6 respectively. When the green flag dropped, Charlier (42) would take the early lead as the field exited turn two. By the time the field made it to the flag stand, Burgoon (5X) was already behind Charlier (42) in second. On lap three, Burgoon (5X) made his move to take the lead away from Charlier (42). On the next lap, J. Gunn (14G) would take over second, knocking Charlier (42) down to third. By the fifth frame, Burgoon (5X) already had over a two-second lead over the field. Despite being hung up by some lapped traffic later in the event, Burgoon (5X) continued to extend his lead over the field, and with the race going green to checkered in record fashion, Burgoon (5X) would score his sixth victory of the season. He was followed by J. Gunn (14G) in second, Magill (05) in third, Policz (14B) in fourth, and Zach Gunn (17G) rounded out the top five. With Saturday’s win, Burgoon (5X) now has a five-point lead in the points race as Petrelle (184) finished sixth.

In the Penn Ohio Pro Stock Feature, Christian Schneider (56) would start on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was Nick Kocuba (10), from Burgettstown. The second row consisted of Daryl Charlier (74) in third, and Chris Schneider (55) in fourth. When the green flag waved for their first of 15 laps, Christian Schneider (56) would pull away with the early lead. The event’s first caution would come on lap five for the 18 of Mike Harris who stopped along the outside wall between turns three and four. Christian Schneider (56) and Chris Schneider (55) would lead the restart with Christian keeping his lead over the field when they returned to green flag conditions. Another caution would come on lap 10 when a car had trouble on the exit of turn four. Christian Schneider (56) would choose the inside on the restart which put Chris Schneider (55) to his outside with Charlier (74) in third. When green replaced yellow, it appeared that Christian Schneider (56) had the win in the bag until a lap 14 caution would slow the pace and rerack the field for debris on the track. A two-lap shootout would ensue with Christian Schneider (56) again choosing the inside on the restart with Chris Schneider (55) to his outside. When green replaced yellow for the final time in the event, Christian would again retain his lead over the field, leading the two remaining laps, en route to his first Penn Ohio Pro Stock win on the season. He was followed by Chris Schneider (55) in second, Charlier (74) third, Cody Koteles (1K) in fourth, and AJ Poljak (36) completed the top five. The heat race winners were Christian Schneider (56) and Chris Schneider (55) *** Interesting fact: This was Christian Schneider’s 28th career win across five different divisions at PPMS.

The Hobby Stock 15-lap feature would start 10 cars with Marc Corio (14), from South Fayette, starting on the pole. Garrett O’Patchen (25), from Finleyville, would line up next to him in second. Joey Brown (48), from Aliquippa, would start in third, while Stephen Shelpman (17P) would start fourth. When the green flag dropped, O’Patchen (25), Shelpman (17P), and Logan Koteles (64K) would battle three wide for the lead with Shelpman (17P) having the lead at the line on lap one with O’Patchen (25) taking second, and L. Koteles (64K) in third, but L. Koteles (64K) would take over second as they came through turns three and four. At the halfway point, Shelpman (17P) was still leading with L. Koteles (64K) still in second and beginning to close the gap on Shelpman (17P). The event’s first caution would come on lap nine when Corio (14) had car trouble. Shelpman (17P) chose the outside on restart with L Koteles (64K) to his inside. When green replaced yellow, Shelpman (17P) would retain his lead over the field with L. Koteles (64K) in tow. Shelpman (17P) would lead the remaining laps of the event, en route to his sixth PPMS Hobby Stock win of the season. He was followed by L. Koteles (64K) in second, Matt Benard (15) third, Jonathan Koteles (2K) fourth, and O’Patchen (25) rounded out the top five. The heat race winners were Shelpman (17P) and O’Patchen (25).

In the All Ways Safe Flagging And Traffic Control Young Guns 10-lap feature, AJ Manganello (50) would start on the pole. Starting to his outside in second was Gavin Kokolis (91). When the green flag waved, Manganello (50) would take the early lead. The event’s first caution would come when Cheyenne Hollister (29M) and Zoey Knight (78Z) made contact on the front stretch with the 78Z having a flat tire as a result. Manganello (50) would choose the outside on the restart with Kokolis (91) to the inside. When green replaced yellow, Manganello (50) would keep his lead with Kokolis (91) following him into second and Sumara Weaver (112W) in third. Around the halfway point, Kokolis (91) would put pressure on the leader but Manganello (50) would hold onto his lead over the field. Manganello (50) would lead the remaining laps of the event en route to picking up his first career Young Guns win. He was followed by Kokolis (91), Weaver (112W) in third, Sadie Snatchko (56) in fourth, and Hollister (29M) completed the top five. The heat race winner was Manganello (50). Manganello (50) became the 54th different winner in the Young Guns division.

Tyler Hollister (69), from McDonald, would start on the pole for the Crawford Auto Repair Four Cylinder 10-lap feature. Starting to his inside in second was Eddie Lombardo (22). The second row consisted of Chris Knight (78) in third, and divisional points leader, Kyle Janas (88) in fourth. At the start of the event, Janas (88) had the lead at the line but a caution would slow the pace and rerack the field for Ray Tinchnor (12). Chris Knight (78) was docked two spots for jumping the initial start. Janas (88) chose the outside on the restart and he would pull away from the field when green replaced yellow. By lap three, Janas (88) had a 2.2-second advantage over second place John Gill (19G) Janas (88) would dominate the event en route to picking up his seventh win of the season. He was followed by Lombardo (22) in second, Gill (19G) in third, Hollister (69) fourth, and Knight (78) would round out the top five. The heat race winner was Knight (78).
