Ohio Sprint Car Series Heads to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – CLYDE, Ohio (June 6, 2018) – Like most racing organizations, the Ohio Sprint Car Series has had to deal with poor weather in 2018.

The series’ second event was cancelled because of rain last month, but the forecast is looking much more encouraging as the series travels to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial, Pa., this Saturday.

While there is a limited number of OSCS races planned in 2018, series owner Steven Pocock has been hard at work talking to teams and potential marketing partners.

“I have been busy talking to teams and tracks and working on marketing proposals to create a good point fund in 2019 and to increase our standard purse,” he said.

Pocock indicated there will be several bonuses available for teams who register to compete at PPMS. He said all registered teams will receive a gift certificate from Rod End Supply and there will be a $100 bonus for the driver who sets fast time on the big half-mile oval during qualifications.

“There will also be a $50 cash award for the driver gaining the most positions from their original feature starting spot and a $100 Speedway gas card for the team that had to travel the farthest to race with us,” Pocock said.

He added each heat race winner will receive Rod End Supply certificates.

“In order to be eligible for the bonuses, the car must have an OSCS decal,” Pocock said.

Pocock has also secured a Hoosier Tire deal for OSCS members, saving them between $10 to $13 per tire. He noted teams must have the OSCS decal on the car, complete the free registration on the series website (http://www.OSCSRacing.com) and compete in at least 80 percent of the OSCS races to receive the tire discount.

Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer leads the OSCS points after winning the only event thus far in 2018. Bryan Nuckles, Danny Smith, Nate Reeser, Chris Ferrall, Jimmy Stinson, Mark Imler, Josh Davis, Adam Cruea and Bradley Ashford round out the current top 10, respectively.

Pocock noted the upcoming OSCS race at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will offer tow money for the top three in series points – $250 for Wimmer; $150 for the driver in second; and $100 for the driver third in points. The driver fourth in points will receive a free “H” series right rear Hoosier tire and the driver fifth in points will get a “D” series Hoosier tire.

“The tow money and tire deal are contingent on running the OSCS sticker and it goes to the top five drivers in points,” he said.

Saturday marks the first of two visits the OSCS will have at PPMS this year with a return on Aug. 25.

Gates will open at PPMS at 5 p.m. this Saturday with racing slated to get underway at 7 p.m. Also racing with the OSCS will be a special appearance by the Elite Modified Series, plus the RUSH Sportsman Modified Series, Diehl Automotive RUSH Late Model Dirt Series, Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, Young Guns and Black Label Business Center Open 4s.

Adult general admission tickets are $20 with senior citizens tickets set at $19; teens (ages 13-years-old to 16-years-old) at $10; children (ages 6-years-old to 12-years-old) are $5; and kids 5-years-old and younger are admitted free. Pit passes are $40.
