WINGED SPRINTS ADDED FOR THIS SATURDAY AT PPMS

Imperial, PA (September 14, 2016)  Racing action continues this Saturday, September 17, at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, as the winged 410 Sprints have been added to the racing program.  Also in action will be the RUSH Late Models racing for $1,000 to win, the open Sportsman division, open Hobby Stocks, Young Guns, and Four Cylinders.  The Sprint feature will be 20 laps for $2,000 to win and $200 to start, and carries a rain date of October 1.

When last Saturday’s racing program was canceled due to weather, it wiped out the final point race for 2016.  Track champions are Brandon Burgoon in the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, John Mollick in the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models, Dave McManus in the Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, Casey Grumling in the Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, and Ben Anton in the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns.  Also a victim of last Saturday’s weather was the Wee Willie White race, but it will now be a part of the 28th Annual Pittsburgher weekend on October 7-8.

Two additional Saturday night racing events are on the schedule for September 24 and October 1.  The events will feature the RUSH Late Models racing for $1,000 to win, open Sportsman, RUSH Modifieds, Open Hobby Stocks, Young Guns, and open Four Cylinders.  For the RUSH Late Models and Sportsman teams, the September 17, September 24, and October 1 races will be dubbed as Mini Chase Races, as the driver with the highest point total from those three nights that fails to qualify for their events on Pittsburgher weekend will be added to the field as a guaranteed starter.  The Sportsman car rules for the three dates will be from the Ed Laboon race that was held back in July.  September 24 will be K&N Air Filter Night with prizes given away to selected race teams that have a K&N decal on their cars.  Super Late Model teams are welcome to attend any of the remaining race nights to use as practice sessions.

The Super Late Models will return to end the 2016 season on Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8, with the running of the 28th Annual Pittsburgher 100.  Highlighting Saturday’s card will be the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, as the 100 lap race will pay $20,000 to the winner.  Also in competition on Pittsburgher weekend will be the running of the Bill Hendren Memorial Race for the Sweeney Chevrolet RUSH Dirt Late Model Marquee Touring Series paying $2,500 to the winner, and the Wee Willie White Sportsman Showdown paying $2,055 to the winner.  Last Chance Qualifying races and Features will run on Saturday’s card, with preliminary qualifying events to be run on Friday night.

For Saturday night’s racing program, the gates will open at 5:00, with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00.  Keep an eye on all developments during race nights on the track’s Twitter account at @PAMotorSpeedway including starting and finishing race lineups.  The track is located west of the city of Pittsburgh, just south of the Noblestown exit of U.S. Route 22, or 170 Kelso Road in Imperial, PA, for GPS purposes.  The track phone is 724-695-3363 on race days, or call 412-279-RACE.  For complete information please visit the track website at www.ppms.com .
