COLUSSY CHEVROLET NOSTALGIA NIGHT UP NEXT AT PPMS
Imperial, PA (August 17, 2016) After losing last Saturday’s racing program to rain, racing action continues at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 20. It will be Nostalgia Night, presented by Colussy Chevrolet. All five regular divisions will be in competition, with point races for the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, and Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns. While the Young Gun class is an age limited division competing in Four Cylinder cars, the open Four Cylinder division will be in competition which is open to all drivers. The CarSmile Wiperblades “Thunder on the Dirt” Vintage Racing Series will also be in competition, racing their restored cars of yesteryear. There will be Kids Bike Races, and AAA Members will receive a $5 discount on general admission.
With just four weekly racing events left on the schedule, the month of August will end with the Tenth Annual Red Miley Rumble for the Super Late Models, on August 27. Sanctioned by the UFo Race Championship, the 35 lap main event will pay $3,053 to the winner, as the Pro Late Models, Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, and Young Guns will also share the card.
The Super Late Models will not be in competition on Saturday, September 3, but taking their place will be the winged 410 Sprints, the fastest cars in dirt track racing. The Sportsman, Hobby Stocks, and Young Guns will be on the card, and the RUSH Modifieds will make their third and final appearance of 2016. Highlighting the program on this night will be the RUSH Pro Late Models with the running of the biggest crate late model race in the history of PPMS, the 27th annual Jook George Steel City Fall Classic. The winner of this event will win a whopping $4,050. A strong field of cars is expected as the weekly competitors will feel a challenge from numerous outside invaders from other area tracks that want to take a shot at the large first place money and extra payoff throughout the field. Branden Lockwich and driver Ben Policz are continuing their efforts to raise the payoff through additional sponsorships. Everything that is collected will go into the purse. If anyone individual or team would like to contribute to this event, please contact Brandon at blockwich@gmail.com or if they are at the track, they can see Ben in the pits.
The 2016 point racing season comes to an end on Saturday, September 10 with Diehl Automotive Night featuring Driver Autographs. All five regular divisions will be in competition, and highlighting the night of racing will be the Willie White Memorial for the Sportsman division.
While point racing ends on September 10, the season is certainly not over. On Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8, it will be the running of the 28th Annual Pittsburgher 100, featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, as the 100 lap race will pay $20,000 to the winner. Last year’s event was voted as the fourth best race video by the website Dirt on Dirt, and this year’s edition should be even better. A RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series Marquee event, and the Sportsman/Pro Stock Showdown will send the 2016 racing season out in style.
Brandon Burgoon leads the Diehl Automotive Super Late Model point race by nine points over John Flinner. Daryl Charlier leads the way in the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models by 14 points over John Mollick, with Ben Policz and Justin Lamb tied for third just two points behind Mollick. In the Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman division, Dave McManus is the current point leader by 13 points over Ricky Stigerwald. In the Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stock division, Dale Tuche leads Casey Grumling by seven points. Michael Jackson leads Ben Anton in the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns by 11 points.
