Imperial, PA (July 30, 2016)  A heavy thunderstorm put an end to the Saturday night racing program at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.  The victim of the storm was a visit by Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions winged 410 sprint cars in the Third Annual Falconi’s Moon Township Automotive “Sprint Monster.”

The facility had been hit by heavy rain for most of the morning hours.  However, the track crew did a great job by getting the track into shape by providing a smooth and fast surface.  A large crowd had gathered for the event, and the staff and management of PPMS would like to thank everybody that came to support the program.  The weather would simply not cooperate.

The Sprints had completed time trials and their three qualifying heats, and the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models had completed one of their two heat races before conditions deteriorated.  PPMS and the All Stars will discuss whether there is a suitable makeup date.  Rain check information is available on the track website.

Racing continues at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday night, August 6, as Alternative Power Sources presents the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series RaceSaver 305 Sprints.  This event was rescheduled after being canceled by rain on July 23.  The “Cruise America PENNational,” will be held for the Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, with the winner earning $1,000 in the event sanctioned by the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series.  The Diehl Automotive Super Late Models will return, and also in competition will be the Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and open Four Cylinders.  It will be Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Night, as club members will be guests of the speedway.  Gates open at 5:00, with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00.  The track is located just south of the Noblestown exit of U.S. Route 22, or 170 Kelso Road in Imperial, PA, for GPS purposes.  The track phone is 724-695-3363 on race days, or call 412-279-RACE.  For complete information please visit the track website at www.ppms.com .

Saturday, August 20 – Colussy Chevrolet presents Nostalgia Night, Kids Bike Races plus AAA Members receive $5 discount admission.  An Action Event featuring the Diehl Automotive Super Late Models, Precise Racing Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Sunoco Race Fuels Sportsman, Miley BP Car Wash Hobby Stocks, Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns, and Open Four Cylinders, plus the CarSmile Wiperblades “Thunder on the Dirt” Vintage Racing Series.
