Allen and Blocher Pickup Wins as USMTS Invades 81Speedway
Park City, Kansas- Race fans were treated to a night of nail-biting racing Thursday evening, as the USMTS -United States Modified Touring Series invaded 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas. Ryan Gustin, Marshalltown, Iowa headlined the USMTS A Feature with a late race pass en route to his 102nd career A Feature win. Also competing Thursday was USRA-B Mods and Auto Tech Service Street Stocks.
In USRA B Mods, Kenton Allen, Chanute, Kansas started on the pole in the A Feature and fought off all comers for the first 17 laps, putting a straightaway between himself and the field. Caution flew on Lap 17, bringing Baldwin City, Kansas’ Jeremy Chambers to the back bumper of the leader for a late race restart. Allen, powered away from the field on the restart and drove to his first A Feature win at 81 Speedway. Chamber settled for second with Enid, Oklahoma’s Dustin Johnson, Allen Owen Jr., Pocola, Oklahoma and Mike Striegel, Wheatland, Missouri completing the top 5. Heat Race wins went to Allen, Johnson and Owen Jr.
In Auto Tech Services Street Stocks, Newton, Kansas Veteran David Blocher, starting outside the front row, jetted to an early lead and never looked back as he won the A Feature back by a huge margin. Pole sitter David Blevins, from Hutchinson, Kansas, settled for the runner-up position. Heat Race wins went to Blocher and Blevins.
Racing returns to 81 Speedway on Sunday, June 7th, as the Ollie’sAll-Start Circuit of Champions Sprint Series sponsored by Mobil 1, visits the famed ? mile circuit in Park City, Kansas. Also competing will be the URSS-United Rebel Sprint Series who will be the support division for the upcoming Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All-Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1. Pit Gates will open at 3:00PM, with Pit Passes $40. Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:30PM and Qualifying at 7:00PM. All-Star Racing starts at 8:00 PM. Drivers scheduled to compete include Brian Brown, Dominic and Giovanni Scelzi, Aaron Reutzel, Paul McMahan, Cory Eliason, Tony Stewart and Kyle Larson.
