Freeman races to 11th-place finish in Lil' Bill Corum Memorial

Payton Freeman visited Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Thursday afternoon to pilot his Madison County Auto Parts No. F1 Late Model for the inaugural Kyle Larson Presents Late Model Challenge powered by Tezos event. For the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals event on Friday at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.), Freeman’s seventh-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the 10th row for the $10,053-to-win A-Main. After showing speed early, Freeman suffered a broken driveshaft on lap 17 that sidelined him for the remainder of the evening.

On Saturday, Payton stopped at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.) for the second annual Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial. Following a sixth-place finish in his heat, Freeman secured his spot into the weekend finale with a second-place finish in his B-Main. With $21,000 on the line, Payton charged forward nine spots in the 60-lapper to finish 11th.
