Sprint Cars Are Back Saturday Night
(Oxnard, CA., Cliff Morgan, 9-5-12) Ventura Raceway is back Saturday night September 8 at 5:30 PM with exciting racing action. On that night VRA Sprint Cars return to action after a month off. They are back to put on some of the best racing to be seen anywhere. Saturday night will be feature VRA Sprint Cars, VRA Senior Sprints, VRA Dwarf Cars, VRA Focus Midgets and VRA Go Karts in full programs of heats and main events. All the drivers in these classes are working hard to move up in the points as we move into the last part of our 2012 season.
VRA 360 Sprints headline Saturday' night's action with fast and exciting hard fought racing. All the top VRA Sprint Car drivers are back headed by point leader Kyle Smith. Also expected to be racing is Clark Templeman III, Brian Camarillo and the rest of the VRA drivers. These racers will be racing in a series of heats and a wild 30 lap main event sure to keep the fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
VRA Senior Sprints are back led by point leader Victor Davis. Davis leads Cliff Warren by 55 points and his teammate Bruce Douglass by 105 points as we return to action. These over 45 year old racers always put on a great night of racing in their 360 sprint cars. So far in 2012, Davis has three wins, Douglass two wins and all time USAC star Wally Pankratz has two wins.
VRA Dwarf Cars will continue their season Saturday with racing in both Senior and Pro classes. In the Pros, the season point lead belongs to past champion Ray Estrada. In Seniors, the point lead is held by Bill VanPraag. These downsized sedans, coupes and trucks always put on an excellent night of tight hard fought competition.
VRA Focus Midgets are on the card as well with Parker Colston, Wally Pankratz, Michael Steele, Cole Custer, Christine Breckenridge and Brennan Rogers leading the field into the night's action. These Ford Focus engined midget racers have put on several good races so far in 2012.
VRA Go Karts return to action on Ventura's big track Saturday night. Since moving from the infield track to the big oval the racing has been exciting and very competitive. Last race winner, and Ventura County Fair winner, Mike Evans leads the field into tonight's action.
Pit gates will open at 12 noon with front gates opening at 3:00. Cars go on the track for warm ups and preliminaries at 3:30 with racing getting under way at 5:30. Admission prices for this event are $14.00 for adults, $11.00 for Seniors, Military and Juniors. Kids 12 and under are free.
