Sawyers Looks To Conquer Ventura Again
After a week off to run the first motorcycle race of the 2012 season Ventura Raceway ise back to its roots with a full program of exciting oval track racing. This Saturday night May 19, we feature our VRA Sprint Cars, VRA Mod Lites, IMCA Modifieds, Sport Compacts Go Karts and our new VRA Quad division. Racing so far in 2012 has been outstanding and tonight should be no exception.
VRA Sprints will be back after a short break to resume the battle to see who will be the 2012 series champion. So far the battle has been between past champion Troy Rutherford, Brian Camarillo, Tom Hendricks, Kyle Smith and John Nock, with several other drivers trying to make their move into the champion's race as well. The drivers in this class will be racing in a series of heat races and a 30 lap main event.
IMCA Modifieds will be racing Saturday as they to resume their season. Last race saw past champion Jack Parker take his second win in a row. Saturday night he will be going for number three against the likes of challenger Brad Prows who has several top finishes so far but has yet to take his first 2012 win. Saturday may be that night. These open wheel V8 powered racers always provide the fans with wild, exciting racing action.
VRA Mod Lites return to action Saturday night in their series. These downsized modified racers are developing a following as the class grows.
Go Karts and our New VRA Quad Racers will be racing on the big track Saturday night. It has been over 20 years since karts have raced on the big track and we are looking forward to seeing them on that track again. The Quad racers have raced this track a few times and they will be back to continue their fast paced racing. Last week at the motorcycle races, quad point leader Danny Elderbaum took the win against eleven other flat track quad racers.
The final class racing on Saturday night will be our VRA sport Compacts. This entry level class for rear wheel, four cylinder sedans has consistently provided the fans with great competitive racing. Point leader and 2011 series Champion Trevor Fitzgibbon will be going for the win over a field of young chargers looking to end his domination of this class.
