Hunt The Front Super Dirt Series

Thunderhill Raceway Park completes 2024 Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series schedule

The Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series will sanction the third annual Mark Fields Memorial at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, Tenn., on Sept. 20-21, a two-day extravaganza featuring a $5,000-to-win program on Friday and a $15,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

The event honors the the late Fields, a likable 43-year-old racer, husband and father of two, who died Oct. 18, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, the result of injuries sustained from multiple gunshot wounds he received five days earlier after a confrontation with a neighbor.

Fields, who competed regularly around the middle Tennessee and north Alabama bullrings, was a blue collar worker — he was a lineman for the Lawrenceburg Utility System for more than two decades — and a blue collar racer — he picked up his lone Southern All Stars win at Thunderhill in 2016. The end-of-summer doubleheader at his home track, where he enjoyed most of his success during a lengthy career driving Super, Limited and Crate Late Models, is exactly the kind of event Fields would look forward to each season.

Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, Tenn., won 2022’s inaugural Mark Fields Memorial over Jadon Frame of Decherd, Tenn. The 2023 version was won by Winchester, Tenn.’s Christian Hanger over Frame. Both of those events featured Limited Late Models.

The Mark Fields Memorial will be the fourth and fifth events, respectively, in the Volunteer State during Hunt the Front’s sophomore season, but the tour’s first-ever at the high-banked, high-speed, Tennessee bullring, which has undergone a number of improvements under promoter Jason Walker. Among them is the facility’s revamped pit area, which has been graded down significantly to aid in hauler access.

The Hunt the Front special is also part of one of Thunderhill’s most ambitious season’s ever as the track hosts the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series for a $10,000-to-win and $15,000-to-win doubleheader on March 22-23.
