TITLES UP FOR GRABS AT THE HILL RACEWAY 8/10/18 RACE RESULTS

(Sturgeon Bay, WI) August 10, 2018 Hill Raceway Race Report: There were 20 Sport Mods, 18 Street Stocks, 17 Stock Cars and 6 Baby Bombers.

Billy LeMieux kept his title hopes alive with his 2nd feautre win of the season in the Stock Cars. Last week's winner John Anschutz jumped to the lead from his front row starting spot. Aaron Karcz was the first to challenge Anschutz for the top spot but a spin on lap 8 ended his mount with a caution. Bill LeMieux came to call on lap 9 using the high side to work his way around Anschutz. LeMieux lead the rest of the way. Larry Karcz Jr placed second and was followed to the checker by point leader Brett Wenzel, Scott Reinhard and John Anschutz.

As we head into the final point night Wenzel leads LeMieux by only 2 points. Reinahrdt sits 3rd in the standings just 3 back and Tom Brumlic is 4th 11 marks behind Wenzel.

Mike Plate paced the opening lap of the Sport Mod main until Troy DeGrave raced by on the 2nd lap. DeGrave fell victim to Jeff “Pepe” Vlies a lap later. Vlies grabbed the top spot and dominated the remainder of the event, scoring a clean sweep along with his 3rd win of the season. Craig Dorner was second, Hall of Fame inductee Eugene Gregorich charged to a third-place finish, DeGrave took fourth and Bernie Reinhard completed the top five.

Tom Stark leads the Sport Mod standings by 3 points over Dorner. Randy LeMieux Jr is 3rd 12 points back. Jarred Van Laanen and Jeff Vlies are tied for 4th 16 behind Stark.

Dave DeGrave returned to victory lane with his 4th feature win of the season. DeGrave bested Matt Malvitz with 2 laps to go to score the clean sweep. Malvitz was caught in a wreck ending his best run of the season. Dan Van Pay scored a second place in his first visit of the season. Jeff Krauel had his best run of the year to place third, Nikki Carter was fourth and John Hill rounded out the top five.

DeGrave leads Kevin Luedtke by 11 points.

Scott Schlafke made it 2-wins in a row as he led every lap of the Baby Bomber feature. Tony Everard kept the pressure on but had to settle for second place pay. Everard leads Schlafke by 9 points.

The final point night will take place on Friday August 31st with racing at 7:00pm. There will be a non-point show on Saturday September 1st and the Modifieds will make they’re long awaited arrival. Draw Redraw for all divisions and the Trailer Race of Destruction will conclude the Saturday show. Racing starts at 6:00pm
