Amantea Nets Top 10 in Both Winged and Non-Wing Races

Inside Line Promotions – HAMLIN, Pa. (June 18, 2019) – Joey Amantea recorded a top-10 result in both a winged micro sprint and a non-wing micro sprint last weekend.
Both were welcome results after how difficult the week began on Wednesday at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., where Amantea placed sixth in a heat race before he was involved in a violent crash early in the non-wing main event.
“It was a rough night,” he said. “We just had no luck and missed the setup in the heat race. We barely made it into the show and started toward the back, which is a tough spot. Everyone is really racing hard and battling for position. I usually pull the short straw and it happened again. This was nobody’s fault and was a racing incident. Someone got tight on the bottom and hit the guy next to me. He hit me. I went into the wall and barrel rolled a couple of times and then got clobbered once I stopped rolling.”
The team regrouped prior to a winged micro sprint show on Friday at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., where Amantea finished fourth in a heat race before he gained a position to end fourth in the A Main.
“It was the first time back with the wings in a while,” he said. “We didn’t know the track changed as much as it did, but I got fourth in the heat and made the redraw. I started fifth and we finished fourth. There wasn’t a lot of passing so we took what we could get. It was a good night overall. We held our own with a lot of good winged guys there.”
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Hamlin Speedway. Amantea hustled from seventh to fourth in a non-wing heat race before he finished sixth in the main event.
“The track was fast and one lane all night,” he said. “Overall it was good to get another top 10 though.”
Amantea plans on competing this Wednesday at Action Track USA; Friday at Linda’s Speedway; and Saturday at Spirit Auto Center Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J.
