Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 11, 2018) – Jamie Ball is all smiles after he earned his first Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com top-10 finish of the season last Saturday during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway.

Ball kicked off the doubleheader on Friday by finishing third in a heat race after lining up on the pole.

“We had heard how slick and possibly rubbered down Texas Motor Speedway could get so we came prepared for that,” he said. “We were able to lock ourselves into the feature through the heat race our first night out there, which was nice to do and always our first goal.”

Ball’s heat race finish earned him the 16th starting position in the feature event. He advanced a trio of positions to post a 13th-place finish.

“A lot of this year consists of going to a lot of new tracks and constantly learning as we go,” he said. “To be able to make the show through a heat race and still gain a few spots in the feature wasn’t too bad and we did learn a lot going into Night 2 on Saturday.”

Ball had similar success on Saturday as a third-place result in a heat race locked him into the 16th starting position in the A Main.

“I was eager to get the second night of racing in because I think we had something to prove,” he said. “I feel like we are always fast, but some of the guys experience at these tracks that I am new to shows early in the night. In the heat, Johnny Herrera got the jump on me and I didn’t drive my best heat race. I let Wayne Johnson get around me with one or two laps to go. We got lucky and just snuck into the feature from the heat.

“My guys had the car great and I just finally drove it the way I know I have been capable of in the A Main. I found a nice line up high in turns three and four that worked and I made my way up to sixth. The last five laps were a handful because we had a wing post break, but we were able to hang onto a seventh-place finish.”

Ball maneuvered his way through the field up to capture his first top 10 of the season. He also jumped from 18th to ninth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.

“Myself and my team were extremely proud of this effort,” he said. “It proved to me that we can race with these guys. We are very anxious to continue our ASCS season on April 27 at Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Ky.”

Ball’s next race on the schedule will be this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the track’s 65th annual Season Opener. He will be running double duty this season in both the 360ci and 410ci sprint car classes at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World.’

“I’ve never been so excited to get back to Knoxville Raceway,” Ball said. “We’ve ran five races already with some of the best 360 competition in the nation and I think we have learned enough to help us adapt and be fast to start off the season there.”
