Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 10, 2018) – A broken suspension part brought an end to an otherwise encouraging weekend of racing for Scott Bogucki and his SawBlade.com backed team.
Bogucki, who is in his rookie campaign with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com, had a fast race car last weekend throughout the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway.
“I’m terrible with the pill draw,” he said. “I never get a good pill draw or I’m in a stacked heat. Friday I started in the third row and had some heavy hitters in front of me. We got single file and everyone pretty much finished where they started. That put me in a B Main and I was able to finish second.”
Bogucki’s fifth-place finish in a heat race and runner-up result in a B Main locked him into the 20th starting position in the 25-lap A Main.
“In the feature I got rolling around there pretty good and passed a lot of cars,” he said. “That was a great rebound.”
Bogucki charged from 20th to a seventh-place result, which garnered the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
Saturday presented a new set of challenges for Bogucki.
“I got a decent pill draw for a change and started third in the heat, but I had the car way too free and we ended up fifth, which put us in the B Main again,” he said. “We worked on the setup and got it better for the B Main and was able to drive from fifth to second.”
Once again, a fifth-place heat race finish and second-place B Main result earned a bid into the back of the main event.
“The right front arm snapped about six laps into the feature and that ended the night,” he said. “My goal this year was to not have many DNFs. This one was a component failure and not a driver mistake so that makes it a little easier to take. It’s still frustrating. I want to be more consistent and get in a rhythm.”
The weekend moved Bogucki, who was credited with a 21st-place finish, into a tie for ninth in the ASCS National Tour championship standings. The series is off the next couple of weeks before heading east to Kentucky and Pennsylvania at the end of April and beginning of May.
Weather permitting, Bogucki said he will race this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
