Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2018) – Sammy Swindell posted a pair of podium finishes last weekend during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals.

Swindell’s third-place finish on Friday and runner-up result on Saturday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader at Texas Motor Speedway give him and car owner A.G. Rains six straight top fives.

“I keep getting these seconds and thirds,” Swindell said. “I’d like to have a bunch of wins now. But if we keep knocking at the door we’ll get them.”

The event opened on Friday with Swindell finishing where he started – second – in a heat race. That ranked 10th in overall points to lock him into the 10th starting position in the A Main.

“It all went pretty good,” he said. “We started back a ways and were able to come forward. I felt like we had one of the best cars. Everything went pretty smooth. The goal was to try to win the race and if we couldn’t then try to make sure we can get locked in.”

Swindell rallied to a third-place result, which earned him one of the lock-in positions to Saturday’s main event. Swindell started the event finale on the outside of the second row.

“I think we had an issue,” he said. “The car wasn’t easy to drive so there was something that we missed or got messed up in the race early on. If I got out of the gas it wanted to almost spin out or get real loose. It didn’t have the forward drive. It was still good enough to run good laps and keep taking advantage of other guy’s mistakes.

“The car has always been really good as the race goes on. It did get a little better, but it wasn’t what I would like to have. When we get the car cleaned up and in the shop we’ll check over everything.”

Swindell’s second-place result tied his season-best finish and marked his fourth podium of the season.

He plans to take this weekend off before resuming competition on April 20 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., and April 21 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., for the Spring Classic with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
