Inside Line Promotions – FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2018) – Travis Rilat passed a combined 25 cars last weekend during the two Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com A Mains at Texas Motor Speedway.

Rilat kicked off the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals by charging forward from seventh to third in a heat race on Friday, but a mechanical problem midway through the race relegated the BDS Motorsports entry to the pits early and the team was unable to start a B Main.

That forced Rilat to use a provisional to line up 23rd in the 25-lap main event.

“We had a fast car all weekend,” he said. “It was unfortunate to have a failure like we did because otherwise we would have been set up well. If we’d have been able to finish the heat we’d have potentially been in the top few starting positions for the main event.”

Rilat did his best to overcome the heat race problem as he charged from 23rd to an 11th-place finish, which was the second-most cars passed in the A Main.

The team returned to the track on Saturday, when Rilat finished where he started in a heat race – fourth – and a B Main – second. That lined him up on the inside of the ninth row for the 30-lap feature.

“The way the track was for the heats there wasn’t a lot of passing and everybody was pretty fast,” he said. “We made the car better throughout the night and it was really good in the A Main.”

Rilat maneuvered through the field to post a fourth-place finish, which marked his first top five of the season. He earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

“Those are the results we’re looking for,” he said. “We’ve had the speed and Bryan (Sundby) has provided great cars. If we can eliminate the problems we’ll be in good shape.”

Rilat is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, during the 65th annual Season Opener.
