World of Outlaws Return to BAPS Motor Speedway Following 31-Year Hiatus; What to Know
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: It’s been 31 years since the stars of Sprint Car racing’s top series, the World of Outlaws, rolled around the red clay of BAPS Motor Speedway.
At the time, the York Haven, Pa., facility was known as Susquehanna Speedway. Stevie Smith was the winner of the show on August 2, 1992. Steve Kinser won the year before in front of a sizable crowd.
Now, the series is back at racy 4/10th-mile oval. The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will leave Eldora Speedway this weekend and head east to compete in a mid-week show on July 19.
Hot laps and qualifying will begin at 6:30 p.m. Racing will follow. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 5. Reserved seats are $40 in advance and $45 the day of the race. General admission for adults is $35, with kids 12-under getting in for $10. Pit passes are $45.
There will be two general admission areas open. The main ticket line will be at the midway area under the video board, with the other located in Turn 2. The midway area will have advance sales ticket check in, cash, and credit card sales. The Turn 4 entrance will have advance sales check in and cash-only sales.
BAPS Motor Speedway season reserved seats will be honored. The remaining seats in the top six rows of the grandstand will be available for purchase at www.worldofoutlaws.com or by contacting the speedway office at 717-938-9170.
Season pit and grandstand passes will not be honored. That also includes the Friendly Neighbor passes, BAPS Coupons, BAPS Bucks, or gift cards. No LocalFlavor or Groupon vouchers will be honored for this event. Suite holders will have their original space, but grandstand passes much be purchased for the event.
There will be camper parking for this event. It will be at the Shoppes of Newberrytown lot across from the racetrack. Camper parking will begin on Tuesday, July 18 at noon and will continue until 10 p.m. Camper parking will resume on July 19 at 8 a.m. Campers can stage in the lot across from the speedway until parking opens.
General parking will be in the lot next to the speedway and across from the track. This is for personal vehicles only the day of the event.
There will be plenty of food on location for fans. Along with the Turn 1 concession stand, Dickey’s Barbecue, Corn Cribb, Rock-It Pizza, MacStack and Milkshakes, Bricker’s Famous French Fries, and Shorty’s Funnel Cakes will be on location. Old Republic will also have beer and mixed drinks for fans presenting an ID.
