Banks, Oregon- In addition to the Big Sky IMCA Stock Car Series racing at Sunset Speedway Park on Saturday, August 3rd so were the IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks/IMCA Hobby Stocks, and IMCA Sport Mods. It made the evening an entirely IMCA sanctioned night with some pretty good car counts in the pit area. At the end of the night, victory lane was, for the most part, made up of familiar faces with just a single new race winner.
That new race winner came out of the IMCA Modified division. Defending champion Aaron Elwess, of Portland, scored his first win of 2019. Greg Walters, from Banks, was second with Portland’s John Gaynor earning third. Vancouver, Washington based driver Robert Jenner crossed the finish line in fourth and behind him, in fifth, would be Doug Lockwood, from Aloha.
Portland pilot Jacob Myers kept up his winning ways in the Pure Stock/IMCA Hobby Stock main. Myers collected his third straight victory in the division. Kendall Lee, from nearby Forest Grove, was the runner up while Vancouver, Washington’s Austin Henderson got credit for third. Rob Ferree, from Battle Ground, Washington got fourth over fifth finishing Mike Fitzpatrick, of Banks.
Lastly, in the IMCA Sport Mod class, Tanner Krohling was dominant once more. The Vancouver, Washington race acquired his fourth triumph of the current campaign. Freya Sweere, of McMinnville, placed second over Cornelius’ Rod Lowe, in third. Don West, the veteran from St. Helens, took home fourth followed by Vancouver, Washington chauffeur Ric Fors, in fifth.
