Banks, Oregon- Sunset Speedway Park returned to some exciting racing on Independence Day for the IMCA Modified Firecracker 50. The Thursday, July 4th event had five classes on the card including the IMCA Modifieds, Outlaw Late Models, IMCA Stock Cars, Pure Stocks, and 4-Bees. Once all the action concluded a massive fireworks display was put on courtesy of the City of Banks and SSP.

Greg Walters, of Banks, picked up a huge win in the IMCA Modifieds. It is the fourth occasion that he has visited victory lane but the first time since June 1st that he has claimed a trophy. Battle Ground, Washington’s Sonny Modaff collected his second straight win in the Outlaw Late Models and it made his win total increase to three triumphs in 2019 at the “Banks Bullring”.

Jerry Schram, from Vancouver, Washington, managed to best the field in the IMCA Stock Cars for his first victory against the traveling group. Austin Henderson, also out of Vancouver, Washington, made his second consecutive appearance to the winner’s circle and now has accrued a sum of four Pure Stock/IMCA Hobby Stock feature wins. Finally, Portland’s John Gartner broke through for his first taste of success in the 4-Bee ranks.

Sunset Speedway Park has little time to rest as the track returns to action on Saturday, July 6th for the Jim’s Thriftway 100 race for the Street Stocks. One of the biggest Street Stock races in the Pacific Northwest it will be a contest of one-hundred laps with the winner collecting $1000.00 at the end. Also on the card will be the IMCA Modifieds, 4-Bees, New Bees, IMCA Stock Cars, and both divisions of Micro Sprints.

Ticket prices are $13.00 for Adults and Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Kids (5 & Under) are FREE. A Family Pass (Two Adults and up to four Youths(6-12)) is offered for $35.00 while Premium Seats are available for $25.00 each.
